Monster Trucks and Mars

For quite some time now, the boys have really enjoyed Gustav Holst's "Mars" from his work "The Planets." The music is very war-like, as Mars is the God of War, and the boys interpretation of this (somewhat) violent music is to pretend that they are monster trucks and run around to it and crash when the music says crash, and that sort of thing. The last time we did this, William and Ryrie were really leaping quite high off the couch and racing all out around the room. Owen and Tommy were doing their best to keep up. This is a picture of the "track" and the "trucks." This sort of activity is highly recommended for a group of very energetic and rambunctious boys in the dead of winter. Another winner is Camille Saint-Saens "Carnival of the Animals." It's quite amusing to see what they come up with. Any other ideas? I know Mom has suggested Hall of the Mountain King...

  1. Awesome. Yes, HOTMK is good for dancing, as are any of the John Williams ones (my boys love Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman, and Star Wars) and also Sabre Dance and Ritual Fire Dance. They get reeeeally frenzied with those last 2 though. :) I love the pictures you posted here---so perfect.
