When George first started this--a few months ago--he wasn't very good at hanging on to the apple. So he would drop it lots and it would collect dirt, hair, or whatever. Yuck. In fact, one day he was eating an apple before church and we didn't want to deal with a tantrum when we took it away, so we let him keep it in church. Not a good idea. He was dropping it in the aisles, under benches, and all over the seat. Disgusting. Various kind and well-meaning people bent down to hand it back, and of course we tried to get it away from him all during the meeting, but he would have none of it. Now he rarely drops the apples. Here are some pictures of my apple-eaters, enjoying their sweet treats:

Fall Apples
Every day, after we get the big boys off to school and breakfast cleared off the table, without fail Tommy will say, "I'm hungry!" It does no good to say, "You just ate!" Georgie always seems ready for a snack too, no matter how much he's just eaten. I discovered recently that Tom and George both like to eat apples. In fact, they will eat 1-2 apples a day pretty regularly. At first they were chowing down on big apples and wasting them, but then I got a little smarter and started buying small apples, which have been the perfect size. George will eat pretty much everything--sometimes he starts right at the bottom with the fuzzy little piece at the bottom of the apple--and Tommy eats right to the core.
