Busy Little Beavers

This week the boys finished up their beaver project for the school science fair.  Its definitely not 100% comprehensive, but pretty close!  :-)  They are feeling confident about knowing information to tell people who come by their booth.
This is the beaver lodge near our house that started all the excitement.  You can see the food pile really clearly in this picture--its the little pile in the very front.

The pond was still a little frozen in this picture.  We enjoyed imagining the beavers all snug in their lodge, although the boys said they wished they could see inside.  We joked about getting on our diving gear and going up through their tunnels from underneath.

The boys won 1st place in Grade 3 for their report.  The best part for me at the awards ceremony was when they told me they were really hoping their friend would get an award, and he did.  It was nice to have some recognition from the judges, but ultimately the best thing was how beavers have forever changed our lives.  Studying them just brought them to life for the boys, and I think they will always be interested/excited in them.
gold medal winners!

Tommy couldn't help himself, and he wore the medal to school the next day.  :-)
