Big Hockey Game

Owen and Tommy's team played a big game at the Enmax Center here in Lethbridge.  This has become a tradition in the Rec Hockey League that they are a part of, and its becoming better and better every year.  This year it almost felt "professional."  There was video and instant replay on the Jumbotron, the coaches dressed up in suits and ties, there was a great announcer, music, and even a "kiss cam" and a "fan cam."  There was a "Stanley Cup" that they were playing for, and a red carpet, a young girl sang the national anthem, there were draws for prizes and cow bells going, and the whole works.  The whole thing was videoed by a "pro" and there was a photographer there who took over 1,000 pictures!

Here's the youtube link.  Their game is covered in the first 3 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zta8xFHJ214&hd=1

Owen and Tommy's team was ahead for the whole game, but in the last 5 minutes or so, the other team caught up, and when time ran out, it was 5 to 5! They called for a shootout.  Three players from each team lined up to shoot.  Each team got one point, so they called for sudden death.  The other team went first--they missed.  Then we went--it was Owen who was chosen--and he made a really tricky shot and won the game!  He got smashed by all the players--everyone was so excited.  He handled it really well--saying thanks for all the compliments and complimenting others too.

The excitement was incredible!

Two of Tommy's good buds came to cheer him on

A wanna-be:  George dressed up in Ryrie's entire gear one day while I was on the phone.  It was extremely cute to watch him put it all on and figure out what order it all went on.  :-)
