Today's Treats

These are some things that made me smile today:

1. Tommy in his rain boots on the wrong feet and muddy shorts and shirt. He was hammering the bottom of our little swimming pool and happily getting very dirty.
2. George in his chair giggling at Tommy and Tommy laughing back at him and turning to shout to me about it.
3. Listening to Tommy read "Sammy the Seal" quietly to himself when he didn't know I was watching.
4. Owen's pictures that he made for me and James. (he asked me how to spell "And" so he could write both of our names on the picture).
5. Ryrie coming in from climbing a tree to tell me about it and then responsibly going out to tell the others it was bedtime.
6. When I went in to "get dinner going" Tommy knew it was that time again and came trooping in with me. I am never alone when he's around and it's quite comforting! He offered to get my knife when he got his but don't worry, I didn't let him.
7. Watching William look at himself and make faces into the computer web cam during his piano lesson with his Nana.
8. Asking Tommy if he just went "poop" and he answered matter-of-factly: "I SHUR DID, MOM!"
9. The washing machine started rocking off it's platform (as it does every time now, it's probably on its last legs or "off it's rocker," haha) and Tommy came running upstairs shouting, "The laundry monster's going to get me! Aaaaahhh!"
10. Watching Owen try to get the attention of his little friend to show her his special book about when he was a baby and telling her about some of the pictures.
11. Listening to Ryrie play "Somewhere Out There" for Nana and watching him carefully choose his chords.
12. Playing Climb the Wall at dinnertime with the kids and listening to them talk about their favorite hockey players and teams. Tommy kept repeating "Montreal" over and over again.
13. Watching George eat James' chin and make a face at what he tasted.
14. When I lifted the lid to the crockpot just minutes before dinner and saw that my experiment of bread in the crockpot was a GRAND failure. Maybe someone can make it work, but not me today. The dough was leaking out of the bread pan all over the crockpot. Some of it was cooked, but not much. Our oven has bit the dust, which is why I was trying this.
15. When I looked out the window and realized the sun had come out for the first time in about a week. I love it!
16. I assigned the two little boys to go out and break open my young Thai coconuts that have been sitting in my fridge for awhile. It was really fun to watch them throw them on the cement outside. I even got to do a few throws. It was very invigorating!
17. When I came in from running a quick errand and saw two of the boys' blankets on the floor and then suddenly one of them moved and I saw Tommy grinning out at me.
18. When I was trying to get George to sleep and I heard Thomas shouting "Mom?" at the top of his voice and I hurried out and he smiled and said, "I was missin' you Mom!"
19. When I went to get George off my bed after he slept for 2 1/2 hours this morning. He was so smiley and cheerful and so was I!
20. When I told Owen and his friend I was going to make them a yummy coconut treat in the blender for helping me break the coconuts and Owen said, "Oh no, a green smoothie! Ew!!"
