Joy School Graduation

Owen and I have been doing Joy School together now for 2 years--this is a really fun parent preschool that focuses on building a solid foundation of social and emotional skills before the kids get to kindergarten--and he just finished up with his "graduation" last night. We had all the joyschoolers and their families (34 people)in our backyard for a bbq and small program. It was fun to hear the kids sing "Oh boy, I've got joy!" one more time, even though they were a bit self-conscious and silly. I could hear Owen singing all the songs an octave lower than everyone else...Yesterday afternoon, right before the graduation, we received our "kindergarten letter" in the mail with information about Owen's new teacher and when orientation was. I guess it's time to move on with life! Here are some fun pics from last night:

  1. 34 . . . what on E.? Oh---wait, that was WITH families. That's okay then. I was picturing this horrendous school-size class you had to teach every week. It's so good that Owen's been able to do this! Sebby would have loved to do preschool, but I just never . . . got around to it. Bad. I didn't realize O and Seb were going to be in the same grade, though! Is he excited for kindergarten? Seb is. I'm just hoping he'll do okay there (he still gets sent out of primary for misbehaving occasionally---though not nearly as much as he used to---) and that he has a teacher that likes him!

  2. Oh Boy! Is that a distorted pic of James or is his workout regimen putting a few pounds on his slight frame?

  3. He is really getting buff! What are you saying about my camera taking abilities? You think I would know how to do that? :-)

  4. Did you have on your red winter coat? I was happy to see your next joy-schooler in one of the pictures! What a wonderful thing Owen has had. I also liked seeing the pictures of your yard & deck. Thanks for sharing, love mom.
