Treasures

William and Ryrie turned 11 this last Monday!  They were really anticipating this birthday.  Monday morning I was reading in the scriptures about treasure.  It is so clear to me that our relationships are the most important treasures we can "lay up" for ourselves on this earth.  We told the boys they are all our treasures.

Auntie Jane made us this cute birthday flag for Christmas last year.  We've been waiting anxiously to use it!  I made the birthday plate this summer in Utah.  One boy ate on it for breakfast, another for dinner.  They are so good about sharing this day with each other.  The colors of the plate and flag are purposeful--Edmonton Oilers colors, of course.  The boys requested the following food for their day:  Breakfast--bacon, hashbrowns and french toast.  Lunch--candy.  Dinner--perogies, macaroni and cheese (NOT the homemade kind) with hot dogs, 3 kinds of potato chips, and caesar salad (with Store Bought dressing, not healthy homemade kind).  Their request was granted!  I hope they live to see another birthday.  ;-)

Incidentally, the twins picked a treasure cake for their birthday.  It came from a book Granny gave us full of birthday cake ideas.  The final product looks a bit different from the one in the book, but the boys didn't care too much.  I had a difficult time getting the icing to stick to the cake!  So I told them this chest was weathered from being dragged up from the bottom of the ocean.  ;-)
