Growth Spurt

When we lived in Indonesia, I acquired a little set of 7 pink wooden owls that I loved to play with. There are seven of them. I used to pretend some of them were twins, and the others were the other members of a family. When we moved to this house, I pulled them out and put them on a shelf low enough for the boys to play with if they wanted. The other day I looked at them and thought, Wow! That looks a lot like our family is going to! It seemed like a cool coincidence. Except our little owls are all "blue" and not "pink."

It's time for an update, I think. This particular entry will be devoted to our youngest boy, and it will be fairly short because I don't really know him yet. He is not even a newborn yet, but is already making his presence known by lots of movement. When I went to my ultrasound he waved at me! His brothers were praying for a girl, and hopefully their faith won't be shaken, but they are beginning to adjust to the idea of another little brother. Ryrie asked, "Why does your tummy like to make boys?" Will saved me by jumping in quickly,"God decides who comes down, not Mom!" Owen is still savoring a lingering hope that the boy might "change" into a girl, but I think once he meets him he'll love him. A few of my friends have tiny babies right now and Owen especially loves to hold, look at, and bring toys to them. He'll be a fun big brother.

As far as names go, the only thing we've agreed on so far is that the middle name HAS to be James. I guess my opportunity to learn how to fix hair won't come now. Maybe I should buy myself a doll and practice on that!
