5 going on 15

Mr. George turned 5 this January!  It is really hard to believe that my baby is now 5.  He is definitely growing up though!  He doesn't miss anything--he pays close attention to everything that is said and done.  He imitates, he questions, he acts like he knows things and has a right to whatever the big boys are doing.  And I suppose he does!

Can't you just see him as a teenager?!  He loves to fix his own hair.

Even with all his favorites he often gets distracted and cannot remember to eat.  His breakfast usually stays on the table until lunchtime, then his lunch until dinner, then his dinner until bedtime.  He always comes back and to it, and he almost always finishes each meal eventually!  And of course, the snack plates add into it all as well...

I think this picture shows Georgie's dual nature quite well--he is soft, cute, and cuddly, and he is also intense, aggressive, and tough.  You just have to be to survive around here.

We had what I felt was a "Classic" birthday party for George--just games, snacks, and friends.  What could be better?

James and I spoiled this kid rotten with a castle for his birthday.  I've always wanted a castle and knights around here,..maybe this was more for me than him?  ;-)

We love watching him set up the armies.  Sometimes they are Narnia-esque with animals and people both.  He is very symmetrical in his setting up.

Some cute things George has said to me lately:
"Mom, I have a slave!"  (sliver)
"Mom, that hurts my blood vessel!" (said this after hearing lots of science fair talk about blood vessels and capillaries.)
"Remember that guy in the book that looks like a meatball and eats germs?  I like him!" (Macrophages--again, from a science book)
"Mom, that was fun cleaning the bathroom with you!"
"Mom, can you come up here?  I'm scared of the bath sheet--I think there's a witch there." (the shower curtain)
"Mom, do you smell a water bottle?"  "What does that smell like, George?"  "Like, water!"
"Mom, what's 1 plus 0?" (my response) "No!  It's 10!!"

Its a lot of work keeping up with everyone around here.  Sometimes he has naps.

Often he ends up in our bed.  He likes to wiggle in a kick us both out...
Georgie's favorite people!

One day he started drawing himself and me, and then he kept on going.  With a little encouragement he labeled all of us with our beginning letter.

George is my best kitchen help around here.  I was thoroughly delighted the other day when he said, "Mom, that was sure fun doing the dishes with you!"  Now that's not something a fifteen year old will most likely say to me...

George invented a new way to make a triangle!  At least it is new to us.
We love you George!
