Tricks and Treats

Halloween was quite a production this year!  It started last weekend, when we went out to Raymond for a Halloween party.  We got the idea from a friend to dress up as Mitt and Ann Romney, as they also have five boys.  James was especially pleased about how comfortable he would be in his costume.  The party was a lot of fun--food, dancing, glow sticks, and lots of friends--and kicked our Halloween off to a great start.

Tommy didn't like holding the Spanish sign.  He kept trying to switch with George.

Doesn't James look distinguished?  I tried to make my hair fluffy.

For props at the party James had a "Binder full of Women" and we brought the signs.
Another big event was the pumpkin carving.  It amazed me how the boys just decided they wanted to do it and they dove right in.  I definitely had hardly anything to do with the carving this year!  In fact, I was baking the pumpkin seeds while they were carving--unheard of in past years.  I decided to just buy two pumpkins and let them help each other, but Owen wasn't totally pleased with this scheme.  So I bought one more for him to carve with his Dad.  Thomas and I also got to carve a pumpkin at his school.  That was a memorable experience for me.  Lots of pumpkins to carve!  Tommy made a happy one with big eyes and ears that stuck out.

Tommy and Ryrie were a great pair

William and Owen with their Harry Potter pumpkin--Owen masterminded the glasses cut-out.
On Halloween, the boys were up and ready for face paint by 7 am.  It is always funny to watch the little ones figure it out.  George dove in with typical joy and excitement to whatever his brothers are up to.  I wish I could be so spontaneous!  He got his face paint on in the morning as well.  :-)
The twins were enemies this year--H.P. and a  Death Eater.

Owen--a battered and bruised hockey player.  He liked wearing a jersey with his name on the back.

Harry Potter has been fighting.  His wand: a chopstick.  His hair:  grown out a-purpose for this day.

An evil look--he was originally going to be Voldemort, but then didn't want to get white face paint on his robe.  Settled for a death eater who was pretty bloody from fighting Harry.  Second chopstick--noted.

Tommy started out a happy monkey.  By night time he wanted fangs and blood like everyone else.  :-)

Here's our adorable monkey...Curious George!

G, T, and I went to the school to observe the Halloween parade.  Later I took Tommy to kindergarten and got some pictures with important people in his young life.
Tommy's teacher, Ms. Kohn.  She is lego if you can't tell.

Tommy and his friend from next-door, Amiria.  They are planning a wedding in a few years.
The trick-or-treating went very well this year.  Perhaps too well.  After watching the boys stuff themselves silly for the last few days, James and I finally approached them about possibilities of getting rid of this stuff in other ways.  We'll see how it pans out.
Two Very Satisfied Trick-or-Treaters!  Unfortunately, I plunked myself right down with them and finished off every bit of candy they started and discarded.  Blah.

The cavorting Elf

Bring on the Heart Disease and Cancer!

Ready to dive in face first.
Happy Halloween!!

  2. Yeh! Really creative stuff. Did you get any anti-Romney hits? I guess my fav are the two "monkeys" though. How could they be even cuter than they actually are!?

  3. Th Romney's idea is making Tim and I so happy right now. It's perfect! We sat here and talked about how perfect your family is for about 15 minutes, then decided we need to have a visit soon and catch up.
