New Piano

We got a new piano last week off of Kijiji.  James and I have been talking about getting a piano for several years.  We've had our keyboard for about 8 years, and it has been great, but we knew that it was time for a "real" piano.  The question was, did we want a new or a used piano.  A friend of ours who is a pianist called me up and told me about this one she had seen online.  It was under the title "Beautiful Quarter-Sawn Oak Piano."  Sounds delightful, doesn't it?  We thought so.  I took the twins to play on it, and was really excited about the beautiful sound and also the excellent condition it was in.  It was built in the 1920's in Amherst, Nova Scotia, but it has all new strings and hammers and everything looks really good inside and out on it.  No chipped keys, no twangy notes, no stuck keys, etc.  It also has a swivel seat, just like the piano bench I grew up learning on!  We are super happy with it, and its been so fun to hear the boys practice on it this week.  They are excited because now two boys can get practicing done at one time--one upstairs, one downstairs.  I am wondering how loud this will be, and bracing myself for the entire household to be awakened bright and early!

(and yes, I am very proud of uploading my first successful videos on this blog.  Took me long enough to figure out, eh?)

  2. I remember very well when my parents bought our piano and how it smelled for years afterward. That smell has meant piano to me ever since. I'm sure your boys will have many joyful memories of this purchase.
